In Plain language, the author describes what the condition is (and what it is not), how it develops, and, most importantly, how to participate in and understand the diagnosis and various treatments.
With the help of this book, you can approach your horse's lameness with a new insight, and be better equipped to make realistic decisions about your horse's future.
A really informative read packed with practical information. This book not only describes Navicular, but explains how it develops, what treatments are available and tries, in layman's terms to explain the diagnosis (and misdiagnosis) of Navicular.
There's a really informative section on the anatomy of the normal foot and an interesting one on remedial shoeing including descriptions of different types of shoes. I thought the book was not going to be of much interest to me as none of my horses have Navicular, but I learned such a lot about the workings of the foot, hoof pastern axis and how it effects the horses way of going etc.
In fact because of this book, I have today changed my farrier to one who recognised that my horses toe was too long behind, her front feet were out of balance and her shoes were not wide enough. I actually understood every word that the farrier told me about the hoof pastern axis being broken back, the toe breaking over too early etc.
Reading this book has probably saved my horse years of misery with poor feet and aching legs! It belongs on all horse owners' bookshelves.
