Steam Locomotives of the Sugar Plantation Railways of Central Cuba.
Cuba is one of the handful of countries worldwide still using steam commercially at the end of the 1990s, albeit for only around four months of the year during the annual sugar cane harvest.
In this, the second in a series of programmes covering 1999 four mills were covered as follows:
Ciucad Caracas
Espartaco
Ifrain Alfonso
Pepito Tey
Concentrating on lineside action, both narrow and standard gauge locomotives are seen hard at work. In addition, mill yards are filmed with narrow gauge fireless locomotives on view.
