|The Northern Line began as the City & South London Railway (C&SLR) in 1890 with small electric locomotives hauling coaches (known locally as 'padded cells' to and from the then terminus in King William Street. This programme traces the story of the Northern Line from its opening to the present day.
It shows the wide variety of locomotive, carriage and multiple unit stock that has operated on the line (one of the preserved locomotives was destroyed by a German bomb during the Second World War). Station architecture and railway infrastructure are also covered.
