This publication provides a complete alphabetical listing of airmen from Britain and the Commonwealth who were awarded the DFC from its institution in 1918 to the last award in 1995 - a total of some 22,000 or so awards. Each entry includes wherever possible, name, rank, service and squadron numbers, together with London Gazette date and page number of the announcement of the award - information taken from both manuscript and printed sources. All London Gazette citations appear in full. The data given is invaluable as a basis for further research on any recipient and the act of bravery for which the DFC was granted.
An additional section lists by country the many foreign nationals who received Honourary awards of the DFC together with some citations - nationals of Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, USA, USSR, and Yugoslavia are included.
