Sub-titled 'The Roll of Honour of the British and Commonwealth Air Services of the First World War'.

One of the most comprehensive and informative rolls of honours ever compiled, this major work fills an 80 year gap in the record of those who died during the First World War. It covers the 9352 casualties of the Royal Naval Air Service, Royal Flying Corps, Royal Air Force, Women's Royal Air Force and Australian Flying Corps, whether they died in action, by accident, or of natural causes, and includes the names of Commonwealth and United States airmen in these services.

Three separate sections enable the reader to find details of an individual by name, to trace all casualties on a daily basis, and to locate casualties by service and unit - an arrangement which allows complete cross-referencing between the three sections.

A fourth, most valuable, section of appendices includes the Order of Battle; monthly and yearly casualty statistics, also arranged by theatre, aircraft type and cause of death; notes on aircraft types, military airmen killed prior to the outbreak of war; and an extensive listing of relevant cemeteries and memorials etc.
